While my curious nature has led me to pursue a number of hobbies and interests over the years, my passion for photography has been the one constant. Behind the camera has always been a safe place for me – somewhere I can just let go of all the noise in my head and explore the world around me.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to antique shops, flea markets, yard sales and second hand stores. I love taking something unused and giving it a new life. It’s with this attitude that I approach much of my photography. I love giving new life to the ordinary, the forgotten, and the easily overlooked aspects of our world. I am often drawn to textures, colors, and contrasts. I have a soft spot for black and white – something that takes me back to when I shot and developed film on my first “real” camera (unless you count the Polaroid I had when I was 10).
When I’m not taking pictures, I still enjoy dabbling in other art forms, including drawing, painting, and digital art. My grandmother is a painter and digital fractal artist, as well as a teacher. Any time we are together, we are usually found out taking photos or in her studio dancing to drum music and painting. Art runs through our veins!
