Yesterday I went to the Chemetco site in Hartfod, Illinois. This is my second trip there, the last time not quite a year ago when they were demolishing part of the refinery building on the site. What was left were the furnaces shown below.
I asked how close I was allowed to get and was given free reign to explore and take photos. I have never been so overwhelmed with texture; everywhere I turned there was something new catching my eye.
I hope I’m able to make another trip to this site sometime. There was so much to see I’m sure there was much I missed. This right here would be my dream job. USEPA, you just let me know when you want to hire a full time photographer. I’m ready.
